A Good Three Step Approach To A Secure PC
To prevent infection of your PC, it is recommend that you take the following actions:
1. Install the Critical Updates released by Microsoft to repair vulnerabilities. These updates can be found at:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
2. ALWAYS up-to-date your virus definitions. If you don't have an antivirus program, check below/
3. Two or more AntiSpyware programs are a must. Look below for some of the better ones.
A good three layer security system
Using the following software can give a fairly reliable security system for the home computer.
First, an anitvirus program. AVAST AVAST, (23Mb)anti-virus.
AVAST antivirus Home Edition is FREE to use but it is necessary to register before the end of the initial 60 day trial period. I would register at the same time as the download, or register before downloading avast.

Following registration you will receive by E-mail a license key valid for a period of 1 year. After you have downloaded and installed the program, the license key must be inserted into it within 60 days. The registration process is very easy, and it will take you only a couple of minutes.
For antispyware, I use these two.
1. Spybot Search & Destroy (4.8Mb) is very good, and SUPERAntiSpyware(6.22Mb)
