Cut - Copy - Paste
These Edit items can save you from printing/retyping text and sometimes pictures. Example: You want to Forward the text from an E-Mail message you're reading, but you don't want to send all the addresses that are attached to the email. Using the Edit/Copy command, you can copy only the text from the email message and then using Edit/Paste, put the text into a new email message.
There are many other uses for this procedure.
You may copy pieces of text from one place to another, like from email to a word processor. Also you may copy Files or Folders from one Folder on the hard drive to another Folder on the hard drive. You might want to copy a part of a document to an E-Mail message, instead of attaching the whole file. Whenever there is a need to move data from one program to another, Copy or Cut and Paste can do it easily.
Here is the procedure:
First Highlight the text by HOLDING down the left Mouse button at the start of the text to be copied, then move the mouse down to the end of the text to be copied. The text will be Highlighted. Release the mouse button ONLY when you have highlighted ALL the text you wish to Copy.
Then Right click on the highlighted text. This brings up a Menu with commands. Left click the COPY command. Nothing will appear to happen, but the text is now in RAM in what is called a Paste Buffer or a Clipboard.
Now any other program or a NEW email message may be opened and the Clipboard contents may be placed in the new program by Right clicking where you wish to place the text and Left click the PASTE command. The text will be Pasted to the point where the vertical line is flashing on the page.
When any text is Highlighted, it may be Deleted by Right clicking to bring up the menu or by hitting the DEL key on the keyboard.
The CUT command is similar to the COPY command, except it removes the text that is highlighted and will then Paste it in a new place. Try the CUT command to get the idea. If you have problems with this procedure, please email me at: cugoy@yahoo.com
