YUMA CHESS CLUB as of 3-May-2010


Yuma Chess Club Normal Play Times:

Wednesdays at 6:30 pm at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore 

(32nd Street and 8th Avenue)

Saturdays at 3:00 pm at Arby's (4th Ave & 26th St)

(Summer play times (May-October) are the same, as above. But because only few people show up it is best to pre-arrange with another player so you are sure to have a player)

HISTORY OF CHESS:

The game of chess dates back 4,000 years, to an ancient Indian board game called Chaturanga. The name means 'army': in front of the king were the infantry (pawns), cavalry (knights), chariots (rooks) and elephants (now known as bishops).
